The detail behind the lesson
“weekly payments kind of was a little bit too much”
He identifies the payment burden behind his request for help. A useful preparation exercise is to gather the agreement and payment records that describe that burden.
Create a record for each agreement
Keep the agreement, the latest statement or balance information, payment history and relevant correspondence together. Label documents by the obligation they concern so similar amounts do not get confused.
Maintain a list of missing information
What figure is unclear? Which statement is out of date? What document has been requested but not received? Distinguish a missing document from an assumption about what it would say.
Ask who does what next
Request an explanation of which steps are yours, which the provider proposes to handle and what remains dependent on another party. Record any follow up without assuming that a general testimonial supplies the terms of your own arrangement.
